Modbus TCP update

Today, EKE-Electronics are announcing the rollout of Modbus TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) client capabilities to our CODESYS® implementation, to further boost the interoperability of our TCMS systems.

Our customers can now take advantage of:

Ethernet Compatibility
Modbus TCP operates over Ethernet networks, offering higher bandwidth, greater scalability, and easier integration with existing TCMS applications compared to serial communication interfaces such as RS-232 or RS-485.

Longer Distances
Ethernet networks can span longer distances compared to serial connections, especially when using Ethernet switches to extend the network. This allows for more flexibility in device placement.

Ease of Integration
Modbus TCP leverages standard TCP/IP networking protocols, making it easier to integrate with other networked systems and devices. It facilitates interoperability with a wide range of software applications supporting TCP/IP communication.

Reduced Wiring Complexity
Ethernet cabling is typically simpler and more standardised compared to serial cabling, which can reduce wiring complexity and installation time. This can lead to cost savings and improved reliability by minimising the potential for wiring errors.

Improved Diagnostics and Monitoring
Ethernet networks provide better diagnostic capabilities compared to serial connections, allowing for real-time monitoring of network performance, device status, and communication errors. This facilitates troubleshooting and maintenance activities, leading to improved system uptime and reliability.
